Scuba diving in Western Province

/ South Pacific / Solomon Islands / Solomon Islands Traveler Advice
Added: 3 months 1 week ago in Solomon Islands

Some of the world’s highest diversity of fish and corals are in Western Province, Solomon Islands’ largest province and tourism Mecca for its lovely tropical islands, superb diving and snorkeling spots, ecotourism, and headhunters’ shrines. ‘The West’ is also the country’s most tourist-friendly area for its multitudes of airports, hotels, resorts, dive shops and tours.

Festooned with coconut palms, rainforests and corals, the province’s Morovo Lagoon is The West’s “trophy” because it is the world’s finest double barrier or enclosed lagoon bordered by islands on both sides. The Lagoon could have been a World Heritage Site if not for massive deforestation.
