You don't have to go all the way to Kyoto to see and experience traditional Japanese culture and architecture. The most popular attraction is the Senzoji Temple, which is Tokyo's largest Buddhist temple. Its entrance, the Kaminarimon, is probably one of the most photographed gates in the city and is guarded by statues of the Fujin (wind-god) and Raijin (thunder-god). Just a rickshaw (jinrikisha) ride away is the Nakamise Shopping Street, where you can buy local treats and souvenirs.
